The Sandhill Crane is a 4ft tall bird native to North America with a some individuals spanning into the North-easternmost parts of Russia. They are listed as a species of low concern on the IUCN Red List, however, certain subspecies of Sandhill Crane including the Mississippi Sandhill Crane and the Cuban Sandhill Crane, are endangered. Their scientific name was recently changed from Grus canadensis to Antigone canadensis.
